Coming Soon: In Anticipation of 'Oppenheimer' (2023)

Now this is a big one. Another of my most anticipated for this year. Christopher Nolan has been one of my favorite writers/directors for a long time, having grown up with movies like The Dark Knight (2008), The Prestige (2006) and Inception (2010), and this seems bound to be his most challenging and technically awesome film yet. Let me explain.
I say challenging because, for those unfamiliar, it follows the infamous American scientist Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy) in his pursuit to create the atomic bomb. That this movie is about the man who most helped create nuclear weaponry is bound to generate some intense political debate about the effect this has had on the world. But no matter what your opinion is on the subject, the movie has a stellar supporting cast (including Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, and the always-phenomenal Florence Pugh), a stellar crew at the helm, and an undeniably gripping historical premise. That it was also shot with IMAX film cameras, primarily utilized practical special effects, AND has a 189-minute runtime, makes this out to be an epic of mighty proportions. I definitely plan to see both this and Barbie (2023) when they release next Friday.
